In 2016 , on an early November Open mic evening, The news of the passing of Leonard Cohen brought a sombre mood over a packed Mariposa.
In a blink of an eye, each performer, in turn, started to play their favourite memorable song of Leonard. A sudden loss, with few words spoken, but songs passionately played until the end of the evening.
For the 9th consecutive year, Mariposa, proudly pays tribute to a man of poetry, controversy & memory with tunes interpreted by “AVALANCHE”, headed by popular, local singer, Jerry Torres, on guitar & voice, Dave Lines, on piano, Marika Felligi, on violin & vocals, Phil Peters, on bass, Michael Rien on drums
